3 REASONS TO EAT YOLKS. Egg yolks got a bad rap for a while, but the latest nutrition push is to eat foods in as close to their natural state as possible (a.k.a. "Eat Clean"). If you're still opting for whites only, here are 3 reasons to consider the occasional yolk:

1) HANGOVER HELPER: Whole eggs contain cysteine, an amino acid that helps break down alcohol in the liver. Eggs won't move the alcohol out of your system faster, but if you're hurting the morning after, eggs are one of the foods that can help your body recover from the damage.

2) HEALTHY HORMONE LEVELS: Egg yolks and other natural fats help your body maintain healthy hormone levels. They also have an amino acid called aspartic acid, which has been shown to raise testosterone levels in as little as 12 days.

3) ANTIOXIDANTS: In an earlier post, the benefits of antioxidants were listed. An egg yolk has as many antioxidants as an apple.
